Carolyn “Susie” Russell, 72, Greenwood, died July 2, 2014, in St. Francis Hospital, Indianapolis. Mrs. Russell was born January 9, 1942, in Medora, Indiana, to the late Robert V. and Edith (Stone) Lonsberry.
Mrs. Russell worked at St. Francis Hospital, Beech Grove and at St. Paul Hermitage before caring for her grandchildren. An incredible mother, Susie was caring, loving, giving, honest and very loyal to her family. She enjoyed shopping, but above all was devoted to her children and grandchildren. She loved being a grandma and keeping track of all eleven of her grandchildren and more recently the great grandchildren. She will be greatly missed by a loving family and many friends.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband of 50 years, Van B. Russell and one sister, Joann Carver.
Survivors include her children, Tim Russell (Cathy) of Franklin, Mike Russell (Angie) of Greenwood, James Russell (Shannon) of Whiteland, and Kim Scholl (Mark) of Indianapolis; sisters, Patricia Stogsdill, Debbe Ashley, and Mary Sheets, all of Indianapolis; 11 grandchildren; 5 great grandchildren.
The funeral service will begin at 11 a.m., Monday, July 7, 2014, in the Wilson – St. Pierre Funeral Service & Crematory, Stirling – Gerber Chapel, 5950 E. Thompson Road. Friends may call there from 2 to 6 p.m., Sunday, July 6, 2014. Burial will be in the Acton Cemetery.
