Doris Ann Davis

September 28, 1934 — April 9, 2017

Doris Ann Davis, 82, of Camby, Indiana, passed away Sunday, April 9, 2017 at Meadow Lakes of Mooresville. Born in Winifrede, West Virginia on September 28, 1934, Doris was the daughter of the late Delbert and Nellie (Kemplin) Cooper. She was united in marriage to her loving husband, Kenneth L. Davis and he preceded her in death on February 12, 1990.

Doris was a homemaker for many years while raising her children; after Kenneth passed away she worked in the laundry department at Heartland Nursing Home in Kanawha City, West Virginia for several years. After retirement, Doris moved to Indiana where she could be closer to her daughter, Debra, grandchildren, great grandchildren, and her siblings. A woman of faith, she was a member of Old Glory Free Will Baptist Church in Winifrede, West Virginia.

Doris was a talented seamstress; she enjoyed working crossword puzzles, word find, and crocheting. She also enjoyed her precious fur babies, Lexie and Dutchess. A loving wife, mother, sister, grandmother, great grandmother, and great great grandmother, Doris’s memory will be forever cherished by her loving and caring family.

Along with her parents and husband, Kenneth, Doris was also preceded in death by her sister, Wanda Griffith; her son, Kenneth L. Davis, Jr.; and a great great grandson.

Survivors include her son, Gregory A. (fiancé: Marlene Fox) Davis of Hurricane, WV; daughter, Debra E. (Husband: Dennis) Knight of Camby, Indiana; three brothers, Delbert (Wife: Evelyn) Cooper of Southport, Indiana, Dink David (Wife: Nelda) Cooper of Alabama, and John (Wife: Christine) Cooper of Circleville, Ohio; three sisters, Phyllis (Husband: Donald) Chadd of Indianapolis, Indiana, Margaret Russell of Winfield, West Virginia, and Edith Craze of Winifrede, West Virginia; eight grandchildren, Kenny, Aharon, Teresa, Jeremy, Robert, Tonya, Jennifer, Anthony, and Jason; 23 great grandchildren; and 1 great great granddaughter.

Family and friends will gather to celebrate the life of Doris Ann Davis on Monday, April 17, 2017 from Noon until 1:00 p.m. at Cooke Funeral Home, 600 Old Fort Street, Cedar Grove, WV 25039. The funeral service will begin at 1:00 p.m. on Monday at the funeral home. Burial will follow at Kanawha Valley Memorial Gardens in Glasgow, West Virginia.
