Evelyn Pierson Chappell

Evelyn Pierson Chappell, 89, Mooresville, passed away August 16, 2018, in her residence. Mrs. Chappell was born February 21, 1929, in Bedford, to the late William P. and Lucille B. (Collins) Pierson.

She graduated from Arsenal Technical High School, where she studied journalism and was a straight A student. Evelyn worked in the accounting department at General Motors for 34 years, retiring in 1987. She was a longtime member of the Westside Church of the Nazarene and more recently attended New Life Community Wesleyan in Mooresville. A lover of the Lord, Evelyn enjoyed teaching others, especially her children, about the importance of their relationship with Jesus Christ. She was a voracious reader and would read the entire Bible on a yearly basis. She was also passionate about music – enjoying classical, opera, and hymns. She enjoyed traveling and regular attendance at the symphony. Evelyn will be fondly remembered by loving family and many friends.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband of 69 ½ years, Chester Phillip Chappell and a brother, W. Paul Pierson, Jr.

Survivors include a son, Ronald D. Chappell of Texas and a daughter, Sharon (Bill) Young of Mooresville; one brother, Charles Pierson of Mooresville; a very special grand-dog, Boots.

Visitation will be held from 12:30 – 2:30 p.m., Monday, August 20, 2018, in the chapel at Carlisle – Branson Funeral Service & Crematory. Pastor Mike Linville will officiate the 2:30 p.m. funeral service. Entombment will follow in Floral Park Cemetery. Memorial contributions may be made to Gideons International.
