Gene Gregory

Gene Gregory, 76, Mooresville, died May 4, 2011, in Community Hospital South. Mr. Gregory was born August 14, 1934, in Morgan County, to the late Horace and Edith (McQuiston) Gregory.

Mr. Gregory worked as a truck driver for Coffing Brothers early on. For the past 45 years, Gene has enjoyed being a farmer in Morgan County. He was a member of Brooklyn Christian Church and attended The Church at Mount Gilead. He also enjoyed traveling, especially to Texas and Florida, as his health permitted. He loved playing with his grandchildren and spending time with his family.

He was preceded in death by a sister, Rosemary Tumey.

Survivors include his wife, Alberta (Cramer) Gregory, to whom he was united in marriage August 19, 1967; sons, Richard Gregory (Gail) of Mooresville and Rodney Gregory (Julie) of Mooresville; daughters, Christine Smith (Charles) of Mooresville and Teresa Gant (Frank) of Mooresville; brother, John R. Gregory of Mooresville; sister, Beverly Hecox of Greenwood; 9 grandchildren; 5 great grandchildren.

The funeral service will begin at 10 a.m., Saturday, May 7, 2011, at Carlisle-Branson Funeral Service & Crematory, Mooresville, with calling there from 4 to 8 p.m., Friday, May 6, 2011. Rev. Terry Crist will officiate. Burial will be in Centerton Cemetery. Memorial contributions may be made to the American Diabetes Association or to the American Liver Foundation.
