Josephine B. (Niznik) Miotke

91, formerly of Montgomery, IL., passed away on January 10, 2018 at Plainfield Health Care. Josephine was born on December 1, 1926 in Gary, Indiana to the late Andrew Niznik and Mary (Janocha) Niznik.

Josephine graduated from Hammond Tech Vocational High School, in Hammond, IN. She married Richard Frank Miotke on November 29, 1947 in Hammond, Indiana and were married for 62 years until his passing in 2009. Josephine worked for Hospital Pharmacy, Humphrey’s Furnace and Hammond News Agency all in Hammond.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband; Richard Frank Miotke, daughter; Christine Dunbar, brother; Sigmund Scott and a sister; Charlotte O’Brien.

She is survived by her son; Richard (Jeanne) Miotke of Mooresville, IN, grandchildren; Richard (Elizabeth) Miotke of Indianapolis, Mandy (Craig) Cothron of Indianapolis, Ryan (Dawn) Dunbar of Lisle, IL, Michael Dunbar (USMC) of San Diego, CA, Ashlee (Glen) Ossey of Downer’s Grove, IL and six great-grandchildren.

A Time of Celebration of Josephine’s Life will be held Monday from 4-7pm at Carlisle- Branson Funeral Service & Crematory, Mooresville. Inurnment will be in Abraham Lincoln National Cemetery in Elwood, IL next to her husband at a later date.
