Linda Lou O’Hair Elkins

79, of Plainfield, went home to the loving arms of Jesus on June 18, 2018. She was born August 27, 1938 in Greencastle, IN as the first of five children to Andy and Marie (Whitaker) O’Hair. She graduated from Mooresville High School in 1956.

Linda worked all her life for various employers including Coleman Insurance Agency, Hall Elementary, Sidener Supply, Goodyear Tire and Rubber, and finally at the IDOC Reception Diagnostic Center where she affectionately referred to her co-workers as her “prison buddies” and from where she retired in 2001. Linda never met a stranger and she had a knack of moving into your heart and making herself at home. Linda loved the Lord her God with all of her heart, mind, soul and strength. Her church, daily prayer and bible reading were very important to her. She and her husband Fred were long-time members of Hazelwood Baptist Church and most recently members of Faith Baptist Church in Avon, where Linda enjoyed crafting flower arrangements for ailing congregation members.

She was preceded in death by her parents, her brother Stanley O’Hair, and her step-daughter Juanita Elkins.

Linda is survived by her beloved husband of nearly 52 years, Fred P. Elkins; her daughter, Sara (Don) Brock; her son Dan (Sally) Richardson; her step-sons Fred (Mary) Elkins II and David Elkins; her sisters Sharon Gibbons, Deanna Bernier, and Jo Ellen Kimmel. Also left to treasure the memory of their “Nanny” are her 6 grandchildren and 3 great-grandchildren.

Visitation will be from 5-8pm Thursday, June 21st at Carlisle Branson Funeral Service & Crematory, Mooresville with a Celebration of Life Service there at 10am Friday, June 22nd. Burial will be in the Mount Pleasant Cemetery in Hall, IN.
