Rosemary Chambers

October 25, 1929 — August 5, 2014

Rosemary Dixon Chambers, 84, Mooresville, went to her heavenly home on August 5, 2014. She was born October 5, 1929, in Bloomfield, Indiana, to the late Roy B. and Iris (Dobbs) Dixon.

She was preceded in death by her beloved husband, Richard Oma Chambers; brothers, Herman Earl Dixon and Raymond Leroy Dixon; sisters, Mary Elizabeth Barnett and Virginia Dixon.

Rosemary lived a blessed life and was married for 65 years to the late Richard Oma Chambers. She worked as a store manager for Paul Harris and opened the store in Greenwood Mall. She also worked for RCA, Sarkes Tarzian in Bloomington, and JC Penney Company, from which she retired in 1974. She was involved in her community being a member of the Mooresville Order of the Eastern Star, serving as treasurer for fifteen years and as Worthy Matron from 1977-78. She was a lifetime member of the Mooresville VFW Post 1111 Auxiliary and was also a longtime member of Eternal Life Baptist Church. She was a member of Kappa Kappa Sigma Sorority and had served as president. Rosemary looked forward to the Old Settlers Fair and Picnic every year, making her “famous” Cole slaw for the Masonic Lodge and sponsoring a contestant in the Queen’s contest. These were ladies she lived for… good food and socializing! She knew everyone by first name and was there from dawn till dusk all three days of the fair. But what we all remember the most about her is her smile she shined upon us every day, but don’t forget that twitch of her nose…

Rosemary is survived by her four daughters, Linda Lou Hensley of Mooresville, Jacqueline Sue Shearer of Mishawaka, Judith Ann Gagnon of Mooresville, and Teresa Jo Lane of Hallandale Beach, Florida; twelve grandchildren, many great and great great grandchildren.

The funeral service will begin at 11 a.m., Saturday, August 9, 2014, in the Carlisle – Branson Funeral Service & Crematory, Mooresville, with calling there from 4 to 8 p.m., Friday, August 8, 2014. An Eastern Star service will begin at 7 p .m. Rev. Don Endsley will officiate, and burial will be in the Mooresville Cemetery.
