Shirley Jean (Spilker) Pyle

Shirley Jean (Spilker) Pyle, of Mooresville, passed on December 9, 2017. Shirley was born December 15, 1935, in Indianapolis, Indiana to the late Charles Calvin and Reva Lorraine (Brandau) Spilker. Shirley was united in marriage to Donald Wray Pyle, who preceded her in death.

Ms. Pyle worked at the Indianapolis Star as an accounting clerk for over 16 yrs until she retired in 1998. She also was an organizer of the Star/News annual Easter egg hunt. Shirley was a strong Christian and active member of Garfield Park United Church of Christ. She had many titles at the church through the years such as President of Young at Heart, program director, and member of the Church Guild. Most of all she will be greatly missed by her loving family and friends.

Shirley was also preceded in death by her daughter Kathleen S. Scott.

Survivors include her children, Michael and Sally Pyle, Aki and Sam Sapienza; sister, Barbara L. Lashley; 7 grandchildren, Joshua Scott, Corey Pyle, Dustin Penwright, Jennifer Sapienza, Randy Sapienza, Jessica Shivers, and Morgan Bazemore; and 7 great grandchildren

Friends and family will gather to celebrate the life of Shirley Pyle form 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. on Wednesday, December 13, 2017 at Garfield Park Community Church (formerly known as Garfield Park United Church of Christ), 743 E. Pleasant Run Pkwy S. Dr., Indianapolis, In 46203. The funeral service will begin at 1 p.m. at Garfield Park Community Church. Entombment will be at Forest Lawn Memory Gardens. In lieu of flowers please consider making donations to Garfield Park Community Church, envelopes will be provided.
