Carl G. Hilton, 82, Coatesville, formerly of Trafalgar, passed away February 5, 2016, in Hendricks Regional Health, Danville. Mr. Hilton was born May 12, 1933, in Lee County, Virginia, to the late Chris and Georgia (Seals) Hilton.
He attended school while growing up in Tennessee and proudly served in the United States Army during the end of the Korean War. He was employed as an insurance salesman for Commonwealth Insurance Company for 27 years. Following retirement, he enjoyed a second career in full time ministry, serving as the pastor of Trafalgar Wesleyan Church for 20 years. He enjoyed volunteering and singing at nursing homes and was active with the Lord’s Locker in Trafalgar. He also took great pride in caring for his home and yard; he was happy on his lawnmower. Above all, Carl was a kind, gentle, and patient man who was strongly devoted to his family. He will be missed by a loving family and many friends.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his siblings, Tom, Jack, Billy Joe, and Ida.
Survivors include his wife of 59 years, Betty (Mullins) Hilton, to whom he was united in marriage December 15, 1956; sons, David C. Hilton (Karin) of Coatesville and Dan Hilton (Albert Hidalgo) of Indianapolis; brother, Frank Hilton (Dorothy) of Pennington Gap, Virginia; sister, Christine DeBord of Church Hill, Tennessee; grandchildren, Jason, Jennifer, Jake, Casey, Nick, Gabby, Maddie, and Tom 14 great grandchildren; a host of nieces and nephews.
Friends and family will gather to celebrate the life of Carl G. Hilton on Monday, February 8, 2016, 4 to 8 p.m. in the chapel at Carlisle – Branson Funeral Service & Crematory, Mooresville.
