Doris Catherine McNabney

Doris Catherine McNabney, 95, lifelong Mooresville area resident, died March 26, 2012, in the Plainfield Health Care Center. Mrs. McNabney was born March 25, 1917, in Little Point, to the late Orin and Oresta (Smith) Dorsett.

She attended Mooresville Schools and graduated from Mooresville High School. Mrs. McNabney attended Indiana University and earned a teaching certificate. She taught school until her marriage to Raymond F. McNabney, Jr., on June 28, 1940. He preceded her in death on June 28, 2009.

Mrs. McNabney was a member of The Church at Mt. Gilead, the Bay View Club, and the Likely Literary Club. She also taught West End Bible Class for many years and taught Bible Study at the Mooresville Senior Center. Among Mrs. McNabney's favorite things were her family, reading, and travel.

She is survived by two children, her daughter, Margaret Greene of Mooresville and William R. (Linda) McNabney of Medaryville; four grandchildren, Lara (Alan) Yates of Olean, New York, Melia (Wayne) Leichty of Pittsboro, Todd McNabney of Bayside, New York, and Kendra McNabney of Mooresville; nine great grandchildren, Mekayla, Melanie, adn Cameron Leichty; Nathan, Curtis, Nicholas, Joel, Daniel, and Jared Yates.

The funeral service will begin at 1 p.m., Saturday, March 31, 2012, at Carlisle - Branson Funeral Service & Crematory, Mooresville, with calling there from 4 to 8 p.m., Friday, March 30, 2012. Rev.
