Edgar "Big Ed" Allen

Edgar 'Big Ed' Allen, 72, Indianapolis, died peacefully at home on October 27, 2013. Mr. Allen was born December 21, 1940, in Columbus, to the late Cecil and Roseldae (Carnahan) Allen.

He was the owner and operator of Allen & Allen Automotive for many years. In addition, Big Ed worked for General Tire and later for Westside Auto. An auto enthusiast and avid race fan, he was a member of the NHRA.

He was preceded in death by one son, Terry Allen.

Survivors include his companion of 32 years, Mary Humble; children, Tena Allen, Tammy Brummett Allen, Tim Allen and a host of other children to whom he played an important part of their upbringing; brothers, Mike and Tom Allen; sisters, Christine Adams and Connie Dooley; four grandchildren; mother of his children, Rebecca 'Beckie' Allen.

The funeral service will begin at 3 p.m., Wednesday, October 30, 2013, in the Carlisle - Branson Funeral Service & Crematory, Mooresville, with calling there from 2 p.m. Cremation will follow the service at the Morgan County Crematory, Mooresville.
