Gary Dee Carter

September 28, 1950 — May 31, 2015

Gary Dee Carter entered into Heaven on Sunday, May 31, 2015, and is at rest in his eternal home with his Lord and Savior Jesus Christ. Gary was born September 28, 1950 in Scottsville, Kentucky.

Gary graduated from Decatur Central High School in 1968 where he was a letterman in varsity football. Gary married his sweetheart Luelda 'Lou' Trieb on August 8, 1969. Gary served in the United States Air Force from December 1969 to December 1973. While in the Air Force, Gary served as a Munitions Maintenance Specialist. Before leaving the Air Force, Gary began pursuing two college degrees in Accounting and Business Management. After honorable discharge from the Air Force, he completed those degrees. Gary began his employment with Allison Transmission in January 1974 and remained actively employed until his death. Gary was a member of Eagledale Baptist Church (now Crosspointe Baptist Church) for many years. There he served as a Deacon, Usher and Awana Leader. Gary also coached the JV basketball team at Eagledale Christian School. Gary loved his Lord and wanted to serve Him faithfully. After moving to Mooresville, Gary became a member of Good Shepherd Baptist Church and attended the Senior Saints Sunday School Class. Gary enjoyed following IU basketball, Colts football, and Nascar racing. Gary loved spending time working in the yard and mowing.

Gary was preceded in death by his parents, the late Roy D. Carter and Ruby Katherine Carter. Also preceding Gary in death were his sister Brenda J. Carter and nephew Hayden Montgomery Carter. Gary is survived by his wife of 45 years Luelda 'Lou'; his daughter, Kimberly Venkatachalam (Harish); sister, Patricia Hession (James); and brother, Ron Carter. Gary was blessed to have a host of nieces, nephews, great nieces and 1 great nephew.

Our family would like to thank Dr. Edward Dropcho, Dr. James Miller, Dr. Sachin Mehta, Dr. Kevin McMullen, Dr. John Unison, Kristy Keller RN, therapists, nurses, and CNA’s that cared for Gary during his battle with Glioblastoma Multiforme brain cancer. Our family would also like to thank Pastor Brandon Sichting, Dr. Everett Barnard, our church family, and many friends for all the prayers, visits, cards, phone calls, and support during Gary’s illness.

Friends and family will gather Friday, June 5, 2015, 2 to 8 p.m. in Good Shepherd Baptist Church, 1150 State Road 144, Mooresville, Indiana 46158. Funeral services will be 11:00 am June 6, 2015, at church, with additional visitation one hour prior to the service. Burial will be at West Newton Cemetery, West Newton, Indiana. Memorial contributions may be made to the Glioblastoma Brain Cancer Association. Funeral arrangements are entrusted to Carlisle – Branson Funeral Service & Crematory, Mooresville.
