Geneva Elizabeth Squires

May 22, 1924 — March 1, 2016

Geneva Elizabeth Squires, 91, Monrovia, died peacefully March 1, 2016, in Meadow Lakes. Mrs. Squires was born May 22, 1924, in Switzerland County, to the late Arthur and Tempest (Ricketts) Gunnell.

She graduated from Mooresville High School in 1942. Mrs. Squires worked at RCA and for Service Supply Company. A longtime and devoted member of the Monrovia Christian Church, Mrs. Squires also volunteered in the church office for many years. She enjoyed cooking, gardening, and sewing. Geneva’s memory will be cherished by a loving family and many friends.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband of 60 years, Robert Glenn Squires; son, Robert G. Squires, Jr.; brother, Thomas Gunnell; sister, Edna Mason.

Survivors include a son, Jerry T. Squires of Georgia; siblings, Richard Gunnell of Mooresville, Charles Gunnell of Mooresville; Gertrude Wilcher of Mooresville, JoAnn Deppert of Mooresville, and Jean Lesch of California; six grandchildren; twelve great grandchildren; four great great grandchildren.

Friends and family will gather from 5 to 8 p.m., Thursday, March 3, 2016, in the chapel at Carlisle – Branson Funeral Service & Crematory, Mooresville. The funeral service will begin at 1 p.m., Friday, March 4, 2016, at the funeral home. Interment will follow in White Lick Cemetery, Mooresville.
