George Thomas “Tom” Allison, 81, Camby, passed away unexpectedly of a cardiac event, June 19, 2021. Tom was born July 11, 1939, in Indianapolis, to the late Howard Marion Allison and Mary Jane (Jones) Lyons. His father died in World War II, and Tom’s step-father, Waldo West Lyons, also preceded him in death.

He graduated from Plainfield High School and married the love of his life, Clara Claudine on December 21, 1958. He proudly served in the United States Air Force in the Strategic Air Command Unit. Tom was employed in purchasing with Latourneau’ Westinghouse for a period of time. He also worked for his uncle, Harmon Allison, at Allison Tire Company and later purchased the business. Tom had an entrepreneurial spirit that was beneficial when he and his son Rick started A & A Transmission in January of 1980.

He was a longtime and faithful member of the First Christian Church of Mooresville, and he and his wife were awarded the Grandma Bucker Award in 2011. More recently he was a member of Camby Community Church. Tom was also a 50+ year member of the Mooresville Masonic Lodge #78. An accomplished woodworker, he made countless pieces of furniture and other items for friends and family. He was a NASCAR enthusiast and never turned down an opportunity to support Rick with his racing. Tom had a delightful sense of humor. He was kind, forthright, devoted, fiercely loyal to his family, and generous with his time and treasure. His smile and crystal blue eyes were endearing traits that won the friendships of many. He will be fondly remembered by his loving family and friends.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by a son, Timothy Alan Allison and a granddaughter, Sarah Grace Allison.
