George W. Record

November 9, 1936 — December 30, 2019

George W. Record
83, passed away peacefully, surrounded by family on December 30, 2019 in Bloomington. He was born November 9, 1936 in Mooresville, to Willis and Harriette (Overton) Record.

He was a 1954 graduate of Mooresville High School, and received a degree from Purdue University in 1958, where he was a member of Alpha Gamma Rho fraternity. George farmed with his father in Mooresville, receiving recognition for his progressive conservation practices, before starting a career in the insurance industry. In 1964, George married the love of his life, Nancy Elizabeth Bridges. Together, they raised four children in Indianapolis.

He participated enthusiastically in his children’s activities, coaching sports teams, driving to music lessons, attending school events, and always making time to be with each of them. George and Nancy were members of Northwood Christian Church in Indianapolis. George loved his church, and served there for as long as he was able, as an elder, a Sunday School teacher, and in numerous other capacities. Always willing to help those in need, he had a kind, gentle, loving soul.

George is survived by his wife of 55 years, Nancy; sons Michael (Elizabeth) of Bloomington, and Daniel (Shoko) of Phoenix, AZ; daughters Sarah (John) Rickauer, of Erie, CO, and Rebecca (Darren) Payne, of Bloomington; and eleven grandchildren.
