Jack L. Engleman, DDS

87, of Mooresville, went home to be with his Lord and Savior December 20, 2018 at Demaree Crossing, surrounded by his family. Jack was born on May 3, 1931 in Washington, Indiana to the late Andrew T. and Lota E. (Gray) Engleman.

Jack grew up in Petersburg Indiana, where he excelled in academics and athletics. He starred on the basketball and baseball teams while at Petersburg. He proudly served his country stateside in the U.S. Army during the Korean War. In October of 1957 he met the love of his life, Jacqueline Stidham, on a blind date and quickly knew she was the one with whom he wanted to spend the rest of his life. Subsequently, they married on January 30th 1958. Later that year, he graduated from the Indiana University School of Dentistry. Jack went on to obtain his degree in Oral and Maxillofacial Surgery at the University of Texas Medical Branch in Galveston Texas. Afterwards, Jack and his partner Kurt Strempel practiced Oral Surgery together on the south side of Indianapolis until retiring in 1994.

Jack was an active member of the Southport Presbyterian Church in Indianapolis, and First Presbyterian Church in Haines City FL, where he taught Sunday School, went on several Mission Trips and Men’s Retreats. He was also active in several professional associations including the American Dental Association, The Indiana University School of Dentistry and the International Congress of Oral Implantology.

Jack was an avid golfer and enjoyed playing for more than 20 years in his retirement at the Grenelefe Golf and Tennis Resort in Florida.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his sister, Colleen Burton; brother in law, Robert Burton and a niece, Karen Hale.

He is survived by his loving wife of 61 years, Jacqueline (Stidham) Engleman; son, Dr. Eric Engleman and wife Janet; daughters, Dr. Erin Wittrig and husband Dr. Matthew, Pastor Eden Pfotenhauer and husband Dr. David, Elana Engleman; seven grandchildren and two great grandchildren.

A time of celebration of Jack’s life will be held Sunday, December 30th from 2-4pm at the family residence, 6460 E. Winding Brook Lane, Mooresville, IN 46158, with a memorial service starting at 3pm.

In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations to be made to the Life Song Christian Fellowship 6460 E. Winding Brook Lane Mooresville, IN 46158; Wheeler Mission 205 E. New York St, Indianapolis, IN 46204 or to The Alzheimer’s Association 50 E. 91st Street Indianapolis, IN 46240.

Final arrangements and cremation are entrusted to Carlisle- Branson Funeral Service & Crematory, Mooresville.
