Jeffrey C. Slater, 55 of Mooresville, formerly of Indianapolis, passed away unexpectedly at his home on Friday, March 25, 2016. He was born December 16, 1960 in Indianapolis to the late Albert E. Slater and Iva M. (Thompkins) Slater; his mother survives and lives in Mooresville.
Jeff worked independently as a sign language interpreter for many years. He enjoyed golf, fishing, bowling and tinkering with car engines. A loving father, brother, uncle and friend Jeff will be missed by his family and numerous friends within the deaf community.
Along with his father, Jeff was also preceded in death by his brother, Terry L. Slater.
Other survivors include his two children, Jacob A. (Kasie Johnson) Slater of Lafayette and Marissa L. Slater of Greenfield; three sisters, Sue (Mickey) Burcham of Indianapolis, Pearl R. (Bob) Unger of Mooresville and Mary B. (Mike) Hale of Mooresville; sister-in-law, Melinda Slater of Indianapolis; several nieces and nephews and great nieces and nephews.
A memorial service, in celebration of the life of Jeff Slater, will be conducted at 2:00 p.m. on Wednesday, March 30 at Carlisle-Branson Funeral Service & Crematory in Mooresville. Family and friends will gather from 12:00 p.m. until the time of the service on Wednesday at the funeral home.
