Jo Ann Boyd

Jo Ann Boyd, 86, Plainfield, passed away after a brief illness January 8, 2020. Mrs. Boyd was born October 12, 1933, in Tennessee, to the late Allen and Auta Maye Reynolds. She married the late Robert M. Boyd on July 31, 1953; he preceded her in death on December 15, 2015.

Jo Ann spent many years in Detroit, Michigan, where she graduated from high school. She worked for the Ford Motor Company as a secretary and retired from the Wayne County Health Department after many years of employment. She was a member of Plainfield Christian Church. She enjoyed reading and was an excellent cook. Above all, Jo Ann was strongly devoted to her family.

In addition to her parents and husband, she was preceded in death by one son, Stephen Robert Boyd and a daughter, K.M. “Mikie” Horden.

Survivors include daughters, Lorri Woehrle (Mike) of Avon and Jan Smith (Craig) of North Carolina; sister, Sharon Sandman of Michigan; grandchildren, Danielle “Dani” Floyd, Robby Woehrle, Jessi Smith, Josh Smith, and Jared Smith; two great grandchildren, McKenzie and Raeghan.

Visitation will be on Tuesday, January 21, 2020, 5 to 7 p.m., in the chapel at Carlisle – Branson Funeral Service & Crematory, Mooresville. A memorial service will follow at 7 p.m., with Pastor Steve White officiating. Memorial contributions may be made to Plainfield Christian Church or to the Gathering Together Hospice.
