Joseph E. "Gene" Young

Joseph E. “Gene” Young, 85, Mooresville, died peacefully at home November 4, 2014. Mr. Young was born May 23, 1929, in Owen County, to the late Joseph D. and Evelyn (Conley) Young.

He worked for the Chevrolet Division of General Motors from 1947-78 as a General Foreman. In addition, Mr. Young owned ARAB Pest Control in Bloomington from 1965-2006. He was a 50-year member of the Mooresville Masonic Lodge #78 and a faithful member of The Church at Mt. Gilead. A hard working and devoted family man, Mr. Young also enjoyed fishing. He will be missed by a loving family and many friends.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by one son, Joseph S. Young and a brother, Gary Young.

Survivors include his wife of 64 years, Polly (Sweet) Young, to whom he was united in marriage November 4, 1950; sons, David E. Young (Brenda) of Columbus and Daniel P. Young (Cindy) of Mooresville; brother, Robert Young (Eleanor) of Crawfordsville; grandchildren, Tony, Justin, Daniel, and Katie Young; 5 great grandchildren.

The funeral service will begin at 11 a.m., Friday, November 7, 2014, in the chapel at Carlisle – Branson Funeral Service & Crematory, Mooresville, with calling there from 4 to 7 p.m., Thursday, November 6, 2014. Rev. Terry Crist will officiate, and burial will be in White Lick Cemetery, Mooresville. Memorial contributions may be made to St. Francis Hospice or to the church.
