Leonard M. Rader, 78, Camby, died peacefully at home August 29, 2014. Mr. Rader was born June 3, 1936, in Indianapolis to the late Harold and Geneva (Miller) Rader.
He attended Ben Davis High School and served in the United States Army Reserves and the Indiana National Guard. Leonard enjoyed a 40 year career in transportation that included many years of service with ABF Freight and a number of years as an independent owner/operator. He was a member of the First Christian Church, Mooresville. He was involved in Revolutionary War reenactments and was a member of the Muzzle Loaders Association. Leonard also enjoyed antiques and photography. Above all, Leonard was a devoted family man and took great pride in caring for his home.
Survivors include his wife of 58 years, Mary (Stevenson) Rader, to whom he was united in marriage July 28, 1956; daughters, Debra Ooley of Clinton and Linda Miller (Michael) of Avon; brother, Richard Rader (Mary) of Indianapolis; sisters, Rose Peel (Robert) of Pinellas Park, Florida and Darlene Knapp (David) of Avon; grandchildren, James Justin Browning, Daniel Gene Browning, and Cara Larissa Moon; great grandchildren, Donavan, Zavier, Andy, and Emily.
A celebration of Leonard’s life will be held at the family home, The Rader Ranch, at 11:30 a.m., Saturday, September 6, 2014. Per Leonard’s wish, cremation will take place at the Morgan County Crematory, Mooresville. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the First Christian Church, Mooresville.
