Melanie L. Potocny

January 15, 1949 — August 13, 2015

Melanie L. (Shelley) Potocny, 66 of Indianapolis, passed away August 13, 2015 after a short battle with cancer. She was born January 15, 1949 in Indianapolis to the late Kenneth M. and Dorothy (Routh) Shelley. On February 10, 1978 she was united in marriage to Joseph V. Potocny; he preceded her in death. Melanie received her master’s degree from Indiana Central College and was employed at Sullivan Corporation as the director of accounts payable for several years. She was a member of Liberty Baptist Church in Indianapolis.

Melanie was also preceded in death by a brother Marshall Shelley and two sisters, Mary A. Holmes and Carol R. Clarkson. She is survived by two step children, Barbara Potocny Schultz (Husband: Gerald) and Joseph V. Potocny, Jr. (Wife: Lynn) and her brother, Merrill Shelley of Camby.

The memorial service to celebrate Melanie's life will begin at 6 p.m., Friday, August 21, 2015, in Liberty Baptist Church, 8420 S. Emerson Ave., Indianapolis. Following cremation, Melanie’s wishes were to be buried in the family plot at Clayton Cemetery. Final care and cremation arrangements have been entrusted to the Carlisle-Branson Funeral Service & Crematory in Mooresville. You may make memorial contributions to the American Cancer Society.
