Mildred I. Goad

March 26, 1928 — February 4, 2012

Mildred I. Goad, 83, lifelong Mooresville resident, died February 4, 2012, in St. Francis Hospital, Mooresville. Mrs. Goad was born March 26, 1928, in Mooresville, to the late George and Iva (Sawyers) Squires.

Mrs. Goad graduated from Mooresville High School. She had been employed at L.S. Ayres, Ward’s Apparel and the former Mooresville Savings & Loan. She attended The Church at Mt. Gilead. Mrs. Goad loved attending the sporting events of her grandchildren and great grandchildren. She was affectionately known as Tubby or Mammy by many.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Edgar J. Goad; siblings, Raymond Squires and Martha Brewer.

Survivors include her son, Ronald Goad (Barb Compton) of Indianapolis; daughter, Judith Smith (Walter) of Mooresville; grandchildren, Jennifer Montgomery, Kirk Smith, Michael Smith, Michelle Waugh, Geoffrey Goad, and Megan Goad; seven great grandchildren; two great great grandchildren.

Visiting hours will not be observed. The graveside service will begin at 2 p.m., Thursday, February 9, in the Mooresville Cemetery. Rev. Jeff Newton will officiate.
