Mildred L. Poland

Mildred Poland, 82, of Mooresville, passed away March 21, 2017 at Rosegate Village in Indianapolis. Born July 17, 1934 in Indianapolis, Mildred was the daughter of the late Ivan and Lucy (Goode) Soots. On February 3, 1955 she was united in marriage to her loving husband, Fred Poland and he preceded her in death in 2006.

Mildred enjoyed working and providing for her family as the co-owner and operator of Jill's Pantry in Mooresville for several years. A woman of great faith and devotion, she was a member of Gospel Assembly Church in Indianapolis where she enjoyed helping in the kitchen. She was also a member of the VFW Ladies Auxiliary in Mooresville. A loving wife, mother, sister, grandmother, great grandmother, and great great grandmother, Mildred enjoyed spending time with her loving family.

Along with her parents and husband, Fred, she was also preceded in death by her brother, Eddie Soots.

Survivors include her two sons, John L. Poland of Camby and Dale E. (Tracy) Poland of Camby; four daughters, Tammy K. (Gordon) Whitaker of Martinsville, Barbara E. Morris of Martinsville, Karen L. (Robert) Bratton of Indianapolis, and Marcy R. (Chris) Christian of Indianapolis; her sister, Audrey (Donald) Martin of Martinsville; 15 grandchildren, 26 great grandchildren, and 4 great great grandchildren.

Family and friends will gather to celebrate the life of Mildred Poland on Thursday, March 23, 2017 from 5:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m. in the chapel at Carlisle - Branson Funeral Service & Crematory in Mooresville. The funeral service will begin at 1:00 p.m. on Friday, March 24, 2017 at the funeral home. Burial will follow at Forest Lawn Memory Gardens in Greenwood.
