Raymond V. "Ray" Bain

December 31, 1955 — February 24, 2015

Raymond V. “Ray” Bain, 59 of Mooresville, passed away February 24, 2015 in the comfort of his own home surrounded by his loving family. He was born December 31, 1955 in Martinsville to the late Vaughn Austin Bain and Ruth J. (Baldwin) Shook; his mother survives. Ray’s wife, Mona Lee (Rooker) Bain preceded him in death in June of 2014. He proudly served in the U.S. Army during the Vietnam era, honorably discharged in 1976 as private 1st class.
Ray and Mona enjoyed many road trips on their Harley “Gypsy,” spending time on the open road, making great friends and many memories. With a great sense of humor, he enjoyed telling a good joke and living by his own standards. He spent a number of years playing Santa making visits to family and friends during the holiday season. Ray got a great deal of enjoyment from spending time with his kids and grandkids. Ray loved to tinker with cars and motorcycles and spent many hours in his garage with his furry friend, Mutley Joe.
Along with his mother, other survivors include his children, Tony R. (Janie) Bain of Brooklyn, James D. (Courtney) Lee of Brooklyn and Rhiannon (Jeremy) Porter of Martinsville; two brothers, Tony A. (Barb) Bain and Brad (Francy) Bain both of Monrovia; 10 grandchildren, Alexis R., Collin, Gavin, Taylor, Mackenze, James Jr., Makayla, Texal, Alexis N., and Dallas.
Family and friends will gather for visitation in the chapel at Carlisle-Branson Funeral Service & Crematory on Saturday, February 28 from 2:00 p.m. until 6:00 p.m. A funeral service will be conducted at 2:00 p.m. on Sunday, March 1 at the funeral home with additional calling from 1:00 p.m. until the time of the service on Sunday.
