Terry Lee Pfotenhauer

May 19, 1941 — March 20, 2012

Terry Lee Pfotenhauer, 70, Mooresville, passed away Tuesday, March 20, 2012. Born in Kokomo, May 19th, 1941, to the late Leo and Beatrice Pfotenhauer.

Terry was an excellent student and gifted athlete. He attended Carmel High School, where he lettered in basketball, baseball, football, cross country and track.

Terry went on to study agronomy at Purdue University, leading to a long and innovative career as a golf course superintendant in central Indiana. He began his career as an assistant to Steve Frazier at Woodland Country Club in 1956. He became Superintendant of the Country Club of Indianapolis in 1963 and the Superintendant of Hillcrest Country Club in 1981. Terry was a member and past president of the Indiana Golf Course Superintendant’s Association, and helped CCI host the LPGA Women’s Open in 1978. Later in life he became a business entrepreneur with interests in The Hair Designer, Orchard Golf Center and the Links Group.

Terry is survived by his wife of 47 years, Sue Pfotenhauer, to whom he was united in marriage on May 23, 1964; daughters, Paula Baugh, and Pam Goad (Craig); sons, Mike Pfotenhauer (Amber), and Mark Pfotenhauer (Edward); eight grandchildren.

Memorial services will be held at 4:30 p.m., Sunday, March 25th, in Glendale Seventh-day Adventist Church, 2900 E. 62nd Street, Indianapolis.
