Thomas Lee Edwards

April 10, 1948 — January 10, 2014

We will miss your infectious smile, your sense of humor, your easy-going manner, your intelligence and your compassion.
Tom had many passions in his life. The earliest one was sports. As a kid in Danville, he was a star on his Little League baseball team. Next came high school at Southport HS where he lettered in basketball and football. Tom excelled at football, playing both offense and defense which resulted in being recruited by numerous colleges. After having children, he took great pleasure in playing sports with them, then coaching them as they grew. Following his favorite teams, especially the Pacers and Colts, brought a lot joy, even in the lean years. He turned his kids into sports fanatics and spent many enjoyable hours with them discussing various players, teams and strategies.
After graduating from Purdue University, he began another lifelong passion by becoming a professional photographer. In addition to teaching photography to beginners, Tom was a talented nature and wildlife photographer and this passion took him all over the country seeking the perfect shot. He had thousands of his photos published in everything from magazines, including a cover of Field and Stream, to trade journals to calendars. A lasting legacy of Tom’s talent was when one of his shots was used for a U.S. postage stamp.
Tom’s passion for sports and nature was only exceeded by his passion and pride in his family. Tom’s wife Debi (Christie) was by his side during his many photography trips and was his true love for 42 years. Tom is preceeded in death by his mother Elizabeth (Hern) Edwards. He is survived by his father, Howard Edwards, and sister Sandy (Edwards) Pollack (Joel, nieces Jessica and Whitney). In addition to Debi, Tom is survived by his son Eric Edwards (Andrea) who gave Tom his cherished grandsons, Ethan and Mitchell Edwards. And his pride and joy were his two beautiful and accomplished daughters Brittany Hickman (Dave) and Blair Edwards (Mickey).
A celebration of life service honoring Tom will be February 8, 2014, from 12:00 - 4:00 PM at , Griffith Bradford WoodsHall, 5040 State Road 67 N, Martinsville, IN 46151.
