Thomas W. Sanders

80, of Martinsville, passed away on April 17, 2022. Tom was born in Mitchell, Indiana to the late Wayne and Mary Sanders. Tom grew up in Muncie, Indiana and graduated from Yorktown High School. He went on to attend Ball State University and graduated from Sam’s Technical Institute. He retired after 30 years at Allison Transmission while spending his last 10 years in the Metrology Lab, his most memorable time at Allison’s. Tom married the love of his life, Lynn, in 1962 and they would have celebrated their 60th wedding anniversary in September. Tom’s passion was bird hunting with his loyal and devoted Brittany Spaniel’s, Gingersnap, Katie and Jade. When he wasn’t bird hunting he enjoyed fishing as well. He was a big fan of I-U Basketball. Tom and Lynn were long time members of Brooklyn Christian Church. He loved spending time with his family and spent many years camping and hiking in such parks as, Spring Mill State Park, Pioneer Park and Atterbury State Park.

Tom is preceded in death by his daughter; Leslie Wilson and son-in-law; Don Wilson.

He is survived by his loving wife; Lynn Sanders, son; Dan (Beverly) Sanders, grandchildren; Hannah Sanders, Holly (Nathan) Duffy and Haleigh (Brandon) Biszantz, great-grandchildren; Natally Rose Duffy and Bentley Ray Biszantz, siblings; Fred (Donna) Sanders, David (Susan) Sanders, Charlotte Fisher and Mary (Virgil) Johnson.

Visitation will be held on Friday, April 22, 2022 from 12:00pm-2:00pm at Carlisle-Branson Funeral Service and Crematory, with Funeral Services immediately following at 2:00pm. Burial will take place at Mooresville.

The Sanders family would like to extend their gratitude to Morgantown Healthcare and Season’s Hospice for all of their support and care during Tom’s illness.
