William L. Cash

William L. Cash, 79, Martinsville, passed away peacefully, surrounded by loved ones, December 30, 2015, in St. Francis Hospital, Indianapolis. Mr. Cash was born October 25, 1936, in Stilesville, to the late Verl Ray and Geneva (Welty) Cash.

He proudly served in the United States Army during the Korean War. Mr. Cash worked for 30 years at GM Truck & Bus, retiring in 1984. An accomplished musician, he played the bass guitar in country and gospel bands for many years. He was a devoted member of Eternal Life Baptist Church, where he served as deacon and also shared his musical talents. Mr. Cash was an avid gardener and mushroom hunter. He always enjoyed sharing his bounty with friends and family. He also enjoyed metal detecting. Bill was fond of his animals and could often be found working on his property with his dogs close by. Above all, he was a devoted family man who enjoyed his grandchildren and great grandchildren immensely.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by a son, Gene Cash and two brothers, Junior and Donald Cash.

Survivors include his wife of 62 years, Nina (Fletcher) Cash, to whom he was united in marriage June 11, 1955; children, Gregory Cash of Martinsville and Sherri Stierwalt (Monty) of Martinsville; sister, Shirley Little of Indianapolis; grandchildren, Chyenne Shannon (Jeff), Tracy Martin (Tim), Shelby Norris (Matthew), Taylor Stierwalt, and Cassandra Goodwin (Adam); great grandchildren, Austin, Madisyn and Zachery; Kyleigh, Keeghan, Karter, and Kinley; Marlee and Barrett.

The funeral service will begin at 2 p.m., Monday, January 4, 2016, in Eternal Life Baptist Church, Mooresville. Friends may call from 12 p.m. until service time.
