David Merle Renner, 88, of Indianapolis, went onto Heaven to be with his Heavenly Father on Monday, February 26, 2024. He was born on December 31, 1935 in Indianapolis to the late John Emery Renner and Sarah Ann (Krewson) Renner.
He graduated from Mooresville High School with the class of 1953. In 1955, he enlisted in the United States Air Force and served his country honorably. He worked at Allison Gas Turbine for 30 years retiring as a supervisor in 1991. After retiring from Allison’s, he continued working driving an armored truck for Brinks and working security at Eli Lilly for Securitas. Over the years, he also worked as a service attendant at a couple of local gas stations. One could say that working was David’s hobby. Processing amazing work ethic, he genuinely enjoyed working and providing for his family. He also enjoyed working in his yard and keeping his property maintained.
David was a member of the Trinity Baptist Church in Indianapolis. He married Virginia Losh on January 31, 1961. Virginia passed on October 23, 1998. A few years later, David got a second chance at love when he married Lois Marie (Walls) Cox on May 28, 2000.
He will be forever remembered by his family and friends including his wife, Lois Renner of Indianapolis; children, David (wife, Debbie) Fox of Martinsville, Michael (wife, Shelley) Renner of Mooresville, Richard (wife, Dianne) Allen of Indianapolis, Timothy (Arlene Kent) Renner of Plainfield, Cindy (husband, Roger) Fouty of Indianapolis, Brian (wife, Michelle) Cox of Lake Alfred, Florida, and Gail Cox of Indianapolis; sisters, Shirley Dodd of Indianapolis and Rose Renner of Georgia; 17 grandchildren; 23 great grandchildren; 2 great great grandchildren; and his 1st wife, Anna Mae Urban.
David was preceded in death by his parents, John and Sarah Renner; son, Jeffrey Renner; brothers, John Renner and Lawrance Renner; sisters, Opal Fox and Thelma Troke.
Family and friends are invited to visit on Friday, March 1, 2024 from 12:00 noon to 1:00 pm at the Trinity Baptist Church, 375 E. Southport Road, Indianapolis. The funeral service will immediately follow beginning at 1:00 pm at the church with Pastor Doug Rumsey officiating. He will then be laid to rest in White Lick Cemetery in Mooresville with military honors. Carlisle – Branson Funeral Service & Crematory in Mooresville has been entrusted with the arrangements.
In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made in David’s memory to the Trinity Baptist Church.
