Dayton F. Schwartz, III

Dayton F. Schwartz, III, 53, Martinsville, passed away unexpectedly December 5, 2020. Dayton was born March 9, 1967, in Belvidere, Illinois, to Dayton F. Jr. and Violet (Noth) Schwartz, who survive.

Dayton graduated from Shoreland Lutheran High School in Wisconsin. For more than 20 years, he worked in many capacities at Sherrill’s Drywall. Simply put, Dayton could build and/or fix just about anything. He was exceptionally talented in his trade and enjoyed staying busy with his work. He enjoyed cars, motorcycles, and shooting. Dayton’s family was very important to him, and he always looked forward to a trip to Illinois or Wisconsin to catch up with his children, parents, and siblings. Dayton was incredibly generous – always willing to help a friend or stranger in need. His kind and easy going nature will be fondly remembered by his family and many friends.

Survivors include his significant other, Angela Mock; children, Dayton F. (Veronica) Schwartz, IV and Anthony (Ivy) Schwartz; parents, Dayton F. and Violet Schwartz; sisters, Dwenda (Ed) Acosta and Darla Hood; brother, Dominic Schwartz; grandchildren, Presley, Elliott, and Taylor; bonus son, Christopher Mercer; a large extended family including aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews, and cousins.

Friends and family will gather Friday, December 11, 2020, 12 to 2 p.m., at the Gasburg Baptist Church. Services will follow at 2 p.m., with Pastor Jack Elliott officiating. Those attending will be required to wear a mask and practice physical distancing in an effort to create a safe environment.
