Edward Glenn McConkey Allen, 89, of Camby, died peacefully in the comfort of his home in the evening on Sunday, November 17, 2024. He was born on November 12, 1935 to the late Edward Glenn McConkey and Lottie May (Wratten) McConkey Allen.
At the age of 21 years old, he married the love of his life, Gretta “Gay” Dugger, on December 8, 1956. He worked as a tool maker for over 35 years for Thomas and Skinner in Indianapolis. Glenn and Gay formerly attended Mt. Pleasant Hall Christian Church. He enjoyed woodworking, archery, and creating his own arrows.
He is survived by his wife of nearly 68 years, Gay Allen of Camby; daughters, Sherri (husband, Pat) McMonigle of Indianapolis and Laura (husband, Roger) Harris of Crestview, Florida; brothers, Melvin Allen of Texas and Michael Allen of Indianapolis; sisters, Anita Mahaffey Zike of Martinsville, Mary Alice Mahaffey of Indianapolis, Cora Johnson of Indianapolis, Thelma Allen of Indianapolis, Norma Jean Allen Soots, and Denise Sprague of Indianapolis; grandchildren, Ryan (wife, Jessica), Maggie, and Taylor; and great granddaughter, Mckenzie.
He was preceded in death by his mother, Lottie Allen; father, Edward McConkey; stepfather Samuel Allen; brothers, Kenneth Allen, Samuel Allen Jr., and Ronald Allen; and sister, Barbara Allen.
Family and friends are invited to visit on Friday, November 22nd from 11:00 am to 12:00 noon at Carlisle – Branson Funeral Service & Crematory. Glenn’s Life Celebration® Service will follow beginning at 12:00 noon at the funeral home. He will be laid to rest in White Lick Cemetery in Mooresville.
