Georgella Lewzader Davis

March 16, 1947 — February 3, 2022

Georgella Lewzader Davis, 74, Camby, passed away peacefully at home February 3, 2022. Mrs. Davis was born March 16, 1947, in Terre Haute, to the late George H. and Ruby (Britton) Lewzader.

Armed with a very adventurous spirit, Georgella lived a very full life. She became the first woman skydiver in Illinois, with 101 jumps. She did barrel racing competitively with her horse, Cindy, winning many competitions. She was an active Girl Scout Leader for her granddaughter for over 12 years. She traveled the world extensively with her husband and family. After a career at United Airlines, she went back to school, graduating top in her class, to pursue a new career in nursing. Georgella was a social butterfly, an avid reader and lifelong learner, and lived every day to the fullest. Her wonderful sense of humor, unconditional love and thoughtful demeanor will be forever cherished by her loving family and friends.

Georgella was preceded in death by her son on the same day, Henry J. Van De Voorde. She was also preceded by a brother, Robert Lewzader.

Survivors include her husband of 32 years, Hugh M. Davis; daughter, Annette Davis; siblings, Lucille Malloy, Melissa Skoczylas, Glenn Lewzader; daughter-in-law, Nannette Van De Voorde; grandchildren, Valerie (fiance Jim Linder) Correll, Victoria (fiance Colin Richardson) Van De Voorde and Elizabeth (fiance Conner Kennedy) Van De Voorde; step-children, Walter Davis, Becky Davis, Janet Rosati, and Susan Stein; step-grandchildren, Jake Powell, Tara Powell, Billy Powell, Alex Stein, Sarah Davis, Emma Davis.

Friends and family will gather for Georgella’s Life Celebration® Visitation Wednesday, February 9, 2022, 4 to 7 p.m., at the Carlisle – Branson Funeral Service & Crematory, Mooresville. The funeral service will begin at 11 a.m., Thursday, February 10, 2022, at the funeral home. Burial will be in Calvary Cemetery, Indianapolis. Following the burial, all are invited to continue in the celebration of Georgella’s life by joining the family at Heavy’s in Camby for a celebration meal.
