Herman Woodrow "Woody" Coffey, 79, Monroe, Tennessee, formerly of Danville, Indiana, passed away July 26, 2023. Woody was born January 16, 1944, in Indianapolis, to the late Herman Edward and Mary Alice (Phaff) Coffey.
A self-employed builder, he worked for Habitat for Humanity with President Carter, building houses for the less fortunate in the United States, Africa, the Philippines, and many other countries. Woody loved to travel and was always interested in experiencing new places. He was strong in his faith and always looked forward to going to church. He also enjoyed singing. Woody will be missed by a loving family and many friends.
He married Mary Adams on May 8, 1982, and she preceded him in death in 2014. He was also preceded in death by a brother, Harvey “Bud” Coffey and sister, Debbie Coffey Payton.
Survivors include his sons, Darren (Tonya) Coffey and Rob Coffey; daughter, Robin Coffey; stepchildren, Joe Miller and Laura Miller; brothers, Bill Coffey, George (Kathy) Coffey, Bobby Coffey; and sister, Patty (Willie) Henry; several grandchildren; many nieces and nephews.
Visitation and Funeral Service will be held at the Carlisle - Branson Funeral Service & Crematory, 39 East High Street, Mooresville. Visitation will be Tuesday, August 1, 2023, 11 a.m. to 1 p.m., with services following at 1 p.m. Burial will be at Fairview Cemetery, North Salem.
