John G. LaVullis

John G. LaVullis, 79, Bedford, former resident of Mooresville, passed away February 27, 2024.   John was born on July 11, 1944, in Russell Springs, Kentucky, to the late John G. LaVullis and Lura (Dunbar) Coulter.  He married Karen (Coulter) LaVullis on June 10, 1989, and she survives. 
 
 John graduated from Mooresville High School with the class of 1964 and maintained many of those friendships through the years.   He proudly and bravely served in the United States Navy during the Vietnam War, serving three tours from 1964-68.   John worked for Federal Mogul for 20 years and retired from the Town of Mooresville Street Department after 12 years of dedicated employment.  
 
 John was a member of the Mooresville Masonic Lodge #78, a Lifetime member of the VFW Post 9107 in Mitchell, and the American Legion.  John was an avid outdoorsman and enjoyed fishing.  He also showed his love and care for others with his cooking, mostly grilling for family gatherings.  He loved his family and was a willing participant in the raising of many children who thought of him as their dad through the years.  John’s kind disposition and great sense of humor will be fondly remembered by his loving family and many friends.  
 
 In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by a brother, Terry LaVullis, and a daughter, Peggy Tribble.   
 
 Survivors include his wife of 34 years, Karen; children, David LaVullis, Teresa LaVullis Meyer, Tonya Bowers, Damon Bowers, Anna Knuckels, Charles Tribble, Ronald Tribble, Renee Callahan, Karen Rae Smith; a sister, Shirley White; many grandchildren and great-grandchildren.  
 
Friends and family will gather Monday, March 4, 2024, 12 Noon to 2 p.m., in the chapel at the Carlisle – Branson Funeral Service & Crematory, 39 E. High Street, Mooresville.
