Judith C. Butcher, 79, Tipton, passed away October 15, 2021. Mrs. Butcher was born December 4, 1941, in Lebanon, Indiana, to the late Thomas and Goldiene (Akers) Canada.
Graduating from Dover High School in 1959, Judy graduated from Ball State Teachers’ College and later earned a Master’s degree in education. Her 40-year career in education as a guidance director, physical education, mathematics, and psychology teacher touched the lives of many students. She was a selfless educator who demonstrated her generosity regularly – always being the advocate for her students. She worked at the Tipton High School, Mooresville High School, North Miami High School, Brownsburg, and Granville Wells High Schools. Judy was a member of the Order of the Eastern Star in Tipton and also attended the First Baptist Church in Tipton. Above all, she was strongly devoted to her family. Her memory will be cherished by a loving family, friends, and many former students that she thought of as her own children.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her loving husband, Gary Butcher and her daughter, Jennifer Gaul.
Survivors include her daughters, Sharon (Gene) McCaslin and Janet (Alan Gentry) Gibson-Zdrojewski; brother, Phil (Jo Ellen) Canada; sisters, Edie (Earl) Kincaid and Julia (John) Worth; 8 grandchildren; 12 great grandchildren.
Visitation will be Friday, October 22, 2021, 6 to 7 p.m., at the First Baptist Church in Tipton, 400 Oak Street, Tipton. The memorial service to remember and celebrate Judy’s life will follow at 7 p.m. Inurnment will be at a later date at White Lick Cemetery, Mooresville.
