Karen L. (Alexander) Keeton

July 3, 1952 — July 20, 2023

Mooresville

Karen L. (Alexander) Keeton, 71, Mooresville, passed away peacefully July 20, 2023.  Karen’s unexpected cardiac condition that began two weeks ago led to open-heart surgery and many complications.  After many very critical medical issues in the past week, Karen was able to converse openly for an hour with her closest family and closed the discussion with, “I am ready to go see Jesus.”  Karen and her twin sister, Carol Sue, were born July 3, 1952, in Indianapolis, to the late James and Bonnie (Hick) Alexander.  She married Charles R. “Randy” Keeton on September 21, 1974, and he survives.

She graduated from Ben Davis High School.  Karen worked for the Mooresville Times as the office manager for 32 years.  In 2016, Karen started a new career with Mooresville Monuments and Memorial Gifts as the manager and designer.  During the past 8 years, Karen has helped several hundred families design meaningful cemetery memorials.

Karen and Randy became members of Mt. Gilead Church in 1980.  Through the years, Karen has thoroughly enjoyed serving at the church and being a part of Bible Study, Wednesday’s Small Group, as a greeter on Sunday mornings, and most recently serving in an active role with the Monday Night Recovery.  Karen was a strong Christian and was grateful for faith in the Lord.  Karen loved spending time at the beach and always looked forward to being with her grandson, Collin.  Being the mother of two boys, Karen had a special bond with her daughter-in-law Crystal.  She also loved her girlfriends and all the gifts that those special friendships brought.  Karen and Randy enjoyed annual trips to his hometown in Arkansas, where Karen had made several friends through the years.  Karen’s memory will be forever cherished by her loving family and many friends.

In addition to her parents, Karen was preceded in death by two brothers, Jerry and Jim Alexander and her twin sister, Carol Sue Wyn.

Survivors include her loving and faithful husband of 49 years, Randy; two sons, Chuck Keeton and Justin (Crystal) Keeton; grandson, Collin Keeton; brother, Ron Alexander; sister-in-law, Janet (Keeton) Johnson Henderson .

Karen’s Life Celebration® Visitation and Funeral Service will be held at Mt. Gilead Church, 6019 East State Road 144, Mooresville.  Visitation will be Wednesday, July 26, 2023, 4 to 7 p.m., with the service beginning at 11 a.m., Thursday, July 27, 2023.  The burial will be in White Lick Cemetery.  Memorial contributions may be made to Monday Night Recovery at Mt. Gilead Church.  Carlisle – Branson Funeral Service & Crematory, Mooresville, serves the family.  Visit
