Michael R. Gregory

August 5, 1953 — February 12, 2022

Michael R. Gregory, 68, was called to Heaven on February 12, 2022 surrounded by his family. He departed his earthly home listening to his favorite song, “Gratitude”.

Michael was born in Indianapolis, Indiana on August 5, 1953 to Robert and Phyllis Gregory. He attended Mooresville High School and graduated in 1971. He graduated from Purdue University in 1975 in Forestry and spent his years cheering (and sometimes groaning) for the Boilermakers. Michael married Linda (Piatt) Gregory in 1982. The two were each other’s lifelong companions and best friends. They were blessed with two children, Nicole (Gregory) Wiese and Ryan Gregory. During the week, Michael could be found at Gregory’s Orchards and the farmer’s market, where he worked until the end of his life tending to the apple trees and loved visiting with customers. A longtime member and deacon of the Church at Mt. Gilead, Michael’s faith and salvation in Christ was very important to him. While Mike was a sower of physical seeds by trade, his family and friends will remember him best as a sower of God’s love and kindness. Mike enjoyed long road trips, watching videos of drives across the United States, trips to Destin, and spending time with his family who he dearly loved. His favorite times were their fun family game nights and Sunday lunches. His family will always remember him by his compassion and conversations with him that left them feeling encouraged or lighter in some way. While he will be missed dancing to the Bee Gees with his siblings at his son’s wedding this spring, his family is thankful for the joy and celebration that surrounds him in Heaven.

Survivors include his dearly loved wife Linda; daughter Nicole (Gregory) Wiese and her husband Justin Wiese; son Ryan Gregory and his fiancé Sarah Hutson; grandchildren Tait and Amelia Wiese; brothers Steve (Julie) Gregory, and Paul Gregory; sisters Cindy (Rick) Breedlove, and Sarah (Jim) Thorp; sister in Christ, Pat Steward; and a host of nieces and nephews, in-laws and friends.

He was preceded in death by his parents Robert and Phyllis Gregory.

Mike’s Life Celebration® Visitation will be Wednesday, February 16, 2022, 4 to 8 p.m., at Mt. Gilead Church, 6019 East State Road 144, Mooresville.
