Noel Everett Plunkett, Jr., 92, of Mooresville, passed away on October 12th, 2024, at IU Health West. He was born in Indianapolis on September 27th, 1932, to the late Noel and Hildegard (Stelzner) Plunkett, Sr.
Noel graduated from Ben Davis High School. Shortly after, he enlisted in the United States Coast Guard and honorably served his country during the Korean War. He married Sandra (Gehle) Plunkett on June 6th, 1958, and she survives.
Noel worked as a supervisor for National Starch and Chemical Company in Indianapolis for 29 years, before retiring in 1993. After retirement, Noel mowed the Eagle Pines Golf Club greens for 15 years. He thoroughly enjoyed golfing with family and friends. Noel was an avid history buff and loved reading World War ll books. His countless stories and jokes will be dearly missed by his family.
Noel is survived by his wife of 66 years, Sandra Plunkett; son, Brent Plunkett; daughters, Kimberly Buis (Doug) and Sherry Judkins (Tony); sister, Judith Sgro; grandchildren, Kevin Reed (Chelsie), Laura Stanley (Rick), Anthony Sweet (Aryn), Cody Kingery (Jordan), Katelyn Kysor, Hannah Buis, Sophia Plunkett; and several great-grandchildren.
In addition to his parents, Noel was preceded in death by his son, Gregory Plunkett; and brother-in-law, Gino Sgro.
Family and friends are invited to visit on Saturday, October 19th, 2024, from 10:00 a.m. to 12:00 Noon in the chapel at Carlisle – Branson Funeral Service & Crematory in Mooresville. Funeral services will begin at 12:00 Noon with Military Honors performed. Noel will be laid to rest in West Ridge Park Cemetery.
Memorial contributions may be made in his son, Greg’s, honor to the American Cancer Society.
