Ramona Faye “Mona” Fisher, 64, a longtime Mooresville resident, passed away on July 12, 2024. Mona was born on January 29, 1960, in Indianapolis to Thomas Goldman, who survives, and the late N. Faye (Humble) Goldman. She married Raymond Fisher on March 17, 1984, and he survives.
Mona graduated from Mooresville High School in 1978. She worked in the cafeteria at Northwood Elementary School for 30 years and retired from the Monrovia High School cafeteria. Working in a school was a perfect fit for Mona because she absolutely loved children. Having the summers off made the vocation even more appealing as Mona loved to care for her yard, always ensuring that her lawn was well-manicured and always looking great.
Lovingly described as slightly obsessive-compulsive, Mona liked things to be in order. It was a great gift as she made her house a loving home for her Ray and the family. She was an avid NASCAR fan and was known to favor Kyle Busch. When not tuning into a race, she was perfectly content keeping up with the latest Survivor and Big Brother. Mona’s favorite pastime was looking after grandchildren. Because Raya lived in closer proximity, Mona and Ray were a good team in helping provide childcare. Mona ensured that Raya was a good reader and learned the importance of being independent. Mona’s kindness and selflessness will be always remembered by her loving family and friends.
Survivors include her husband of 40 years, Raymond Fisher; father, Thomas Goldman; children, Beth (Coco) Ballard, Jason (Peggy) Bell, Clayton Bell, and Lindsay (Nikki) Petro; sisters, Marcella (Eric) Selburg, Teresa Burton, and Laura DeName; three grandchildren, Jessica and Julia Ayers, Raya Mudd.
