Rosella J. "Rosie" Davis

Rosella J. “Rosie” Davis, 90, Mooresville, passed away June 1, 2023.  Mrs. Davis was born July 23, 1932, in Indianapolis, to the late Harry and Minerva (Watson) Cummings.  She married the late Dewey Allen Davis on June 25, 1949, and he preceded her in death on October 1, 1992. 

Rosie attended George Washington High School and worked for a brief period at Lane Bryant and RCA.  When her children were born, she became a fulltime mom and pastor’s wife.  Rosie took great pride in caring for her home and cooking for her family.  She had a great sense of humor and was never without the steady companionship of a dog.  Rosie was strongly devoted to her family, especially loved spending time with her grandchildren and was affectionately known as Mammy to many.  

In addition to her parents and Dewey, she was preceded in death by a daughter, Doris Eskridge; brothers, Elmer, Woodrow, and Ralph Cummings; sisters, Fern Halbrook and Mary Umbright. 

Survivors include two daughters, Shirley Brown and Linda Byrnes; 7 grandchildren; a host of great grandchildren. 

Rosie’s visitation and funeral service will be held at Carlisle – Branson Funeral Service & Crematory, Mooresville.  Visitation will be Monday, June 5, 2023, 11 a.m. to 1 p.m., with services following at 1 p.m.  Burial will be in White Lick Cemetery.  Visit
