Ruby Ann (Lance) Walker, 90, Mooresville, went home to be with the Lord and was reunited with her beloved husband, Thomas W. Walker, on the morning of July 26, 2024. Mrs. Walker was born on September 27, 1933, the only daughter, of the late John E. and Dortha M. (Leonard) Lance.
Ruby graduated from Arsenal Technical High School, earned her LPN license, and worked for a brief period of time at Methodist Hospital. After she married Tom and began a family, she devoted her time and energy to the many responsibilities related to being a loving wife and devoted mother to four children. They moved to the family farm on Gold Creek Road in 1965, and it became a place where wonderful memories were made through the years. Ruby was an avid gardener and an accomplished seamstress, making countless quilts for family and friends through the years. She cooked everything from scratch, and her cinnamon rolls and sticky buns were always crowd favorites. Baking came naturally to Ruby, along with creating beautiful wedding cakes.
Ruby was a woman of very strong faith. She was a member of the former Mooresville Church of God for 44 years and had been a member of Good Shepherd Baptist Church for the past 21 years. She sang in the choir and was always cooking for the various church functions, including funeral meals. She also volunteered for Meals on Wheels. Ruby will be remembered for her kindness, loving nature, and a strong determined work ethic.
In addition to her parents and Tom, she was preceded in death by two brothers, Max R. and Paul D. Lance.
Survivors include her four children, John F. Walker (Paula Smith Walker) of Mooresville, Beverly A. Marine (James R. Marine) of Mooresville, Matthew W. Walker (Cynthia Yeager Walker) of Harrison, Arkansas, and Timothy T. Walker (Angela Culver Walker) of Mooresville; brother, Joe E. (Sally) Lance of Cleveland, Ohio; many grandchildren and a host of great grandchildren.
Ruby’s Life Celebration® Visitation and Funeral Service will be held at Good Shepherd Baptist Church, 1150 E. State Road 144, Mooresville. Visitation will be on Thursday, August 1, 2024, 4 to 8 p.m., and the service will begin at 11 a.m., Friday, August 2, 2024. Burial will follow in the Mooresville Cemetery. Memorial contributions may be made to Good Shepherd Baptist Church; envelopes will be available during services. Carlisle – Branson Funeral Service & Crematory is serving the family.
