Shirley Rader, 70, Bethany, passed away January 18, 2022, at her residence. Shirley was born October 9, 1951, in Sand Springs, Kentucky, to the late Tolby Rader and Edna (Blanton) Rader, who survives.
Shirley attended Martinsville High School. She held various jobs through the years at Arlington Crystal, Hoosier Printing, and as secretary for then Lieutenant Governor Evan Bayh. Shirley’s last job was at Pat’s Tavern, where she was affectionately knows as “Ponytail”. Shirley was a member of ABATE, bowled on several leagues, and was a former member of the Mooresville Eagles. A longtime resident of Bethany, she also served as president of the Bethany Town Board. In the seventy’s she was a competitive disco dancer and competed in many competitions. Shirley will be fondly remembered by her loving family and friends.
Survivors include her daughter, Carrie (the late Paul Jr.) Hart; mother, Edna Rader; brother, Ernest (the late Ruth) Rader; sister, Marisa (Tom) Cordray; grandchildren, Althea Elgan, Cherise Elgan; great grandchildren, Halonah Hamblin, Elaina Kirkley, Alex Elgan, Carissa Elgan, and Carsten Stayte; a host of nieces, nephews, and cousins that she always enjoyed being with.
Visitation will be Thursday, January 27, 2022, 3 to 5 p.m., at Carlisle - Branson Funeral Service & Crematory. Services will follow at 5 p.m. Visit www.CarlisleBranson.com to share a favorite memory or to sign the online guest registry.
