Thomas Joe Hott Jr.

Thomas Joe Hott Jr., 65, of Mooresville, passed peacefully at his home on Sunday, March 17, 2024.  Tom, as most knew him, had fought a cancer battle for over a year but is now cancer free.  He was born on July 13, 1958 to the late Thomas Joe Hott Sr. and Jacqueline Sue (Loffland) Hott in Indianapolis.  

He graduated from Speedway High School with the class of 1976.  Tom was always looking to learn more and took college courses throughout his life to further his education.  He worked as a pipe fitter and was a proud member of the union, Local 440 Plumbers and Steamfitters, for 47 years.

Tom married the love of his life and travel companion, Julie A. Runyon, on February 5, 1995. He enjoyed fishing, reading books, and piddling in the garage.  When he was younger, he enjoyed working on cars.  For the last six and a half years he and Julie raised their two oldest grandchildren.

He will be missed and fondly remembered by many including his wife, Julie Hott of Mooresville; sons, Steve Hott of Greenwood, Kyle (wife, Amber) Canfield of Indianapolis, and Blake Canfield of Lubbock, Texas; brother, Donald (wife, Sue) Hott of Pittsboro; sister, Christina Hott of Speedway; and grandchildren, Trevor, Lexy, Kyla, Makenzie, Ryleigh, Kylee, Aubree, Nevaeh, Abby, Hunter, and Jacqueline.  

Tom was preceded in death by his mother and father, Jacqueline and Thomas Hott; and sister, Tina Hietberg.

Family and friends are invited to visit on Tuesday, March 26, 2024 from 2:00 pm to 6:00 pm in the chapel at Carlisle-Branson Funeral Service & Crematory in Mooresville. Tom’s Life Celebration® Service will immediately follow, beginning at 6:00 pm.  Following the services, Tom’s earthly remains will be cremated.
