William Joseph (Joe) Young (86) entered into life on September 10, 1937; he entered the presence of the Lord on Tuesday, November 7, 2023.

He was born in Owensboro, KY to his parents, Bennett and Katherine Young. Joe received two commendations from Island Steel for saving the lives of fellow employees.

Joe always had a servant’s heart.  He went on mission trips to Mexico, Haiti, Dominican Republic, and Russia.  After he retired, he loved volunteering at the Wabash Park Camp & Retreat Center in Clay City, IN.  He had the privilege of taking several trips to the Holy Land and took people with him each time he went.

Joe loved to work in the Food Pantry at the Light & Life Free Methodist Church. For the past 10 years, he and Nora participated in a HomeChurch group that they loved very much.

The most important things in Joe’s life were his faith, his family, and his friends.  Serving others was his passion and purpose.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Bennett and Katherine (Nash) Young, his brother, Bennett Young, Jr., and his sisters, Darlene LaRoche and Betty Westmoreland.

Joe is survived by his loving wife of 68 years, Nora (Paris) Young, his children: John (Lori) Young, David (Carol) Young, Judith (Mark) Kinnick and Randall (Kellie) Young.  He was blessed with 13 grandchildren and 21 great grandchildren.
